“Home organization tip: just give up”

I bet I got your attention with the title? Look here.

Home Organization

The comic shows a bare room. A person is comfortably sitting on the floor against a wall, playing with his laptop. In the center of the room is a huge box labeled “miscellaneous” with a lamp, a couch and home items sticking out.

This cartoon made me laugh because I’m a big believer in labeling moving boxes by room or category to help make unpacking easy. In my case, all the boxes for my last move were labeled except for the last one, which was a bunch of mixed items thrown together from the last round of packing up. I had written MISC on that box with frowning faces, from the frustration of having a bunch of small items that didn’t fit anywhere. One of the movers asked me what was up with the frowning faces.

This comic shows the opposite strategy, the first box packed with everything in a home becomes MISC.

I knew careful packing would make my move easier in the end, but the simplicity of the picture is so appealing. There were a few times during the move when I wished I could just throw everything into one box and live in a bare room with only a laptop to worry about.

Talk about simplicity in life. I’d love to hear from my readers what they think of this comic.

Thanks to Yedida for bringing this XKCD comic to my attention.
