In search of functional storage space

I worked with Brianna* who works from her living room occasionally. The beauty of working from home also comes with challenges, especially when there wasn’t a system in place for putting stuff away after work. The living room is where my client also makes her art projects. In addition, she has cat supplies such as nail clippers, brush and toys all of which were on the coffee table. A cluttered coffee table was bothering her. We explored options for storing the arts and cat-related supplies in her one-bedroom apartment. Brianna was completely honest when she mentioned that if the cat supplies are in another room such as in the kitchen, she won’t get them when she needs them. We talked some more to gauge what would work for her. Since the living room serves multipurpose settings, we explored those options. One of the things she was willing to do was to store both art supplies and cat-related supplies in containers under the couch. We looked into bins that would serve those needs. After measuring the height, width, and length of the space under the couch, I sent her a bunch of options to look at to store her art supplies and cat supplies.

A week later, I was thrilled to hear from Brianna that she got the bins she wanted and let me know that the art supplies and cat-related supplies have a home under the couch. It was so easy for her to pull out the bins when creativity strikes or she needs to clip her cat’s nails AND still have a clutter free coffee table. The putting away was much easier for her.
