It can be fun to go through a childhood time capsule when it is in limited quantity. When parents save everything their children did from arts, schoolwork, photos and books, that can be overwhelming and painful for the children as adults to sort through. Think about how you want to spend your time with adult children when they come visit. Do you want to make them deal with the memorabilia that you had painstakingly saved for your kids when they didn’t ask you to, or have quality time doing fun things together?
Adult children may not have the space in their home to take on their childhood artifacts. Even if they do, are they schlepping the boxes which are taking up valuable space. Do your children a huge favor starting now whether they’re young or older, focus on keeping quality over quantity and in one box. Don’t know where to start, a professional organizer can help. There are ways to downsize childhood memorabilia. If you as a parent have your own memorabilia that you haven’t opened, maybe it’d be time to tackle that with a professional organizer first? Wouldn’t it be nice to have fewer boxes taking up valuable space in your home or storage unit?
Great ideas parents will appreciate, I’m sure.
Thanks so much as I again pursue another purging.
