Most women have a few “wear it once” dresses in their closets: high-school prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses or formal dresses. If you have such a dress in your collection, consider making a teen’s dreams come true by donating it to a young woman who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford a new dress for her prom.
From February 1st through April 1st, many organizations across the USA accept such dresses. To find out more about donating dresses to teens, visit www.DonateMyDress.org. This link, http://www.donatemydress.org/donate.html#M, will tell you where the nearest drop-off place is by you. Check your local site for requirements before donating, as organization policies may vary. The bottom-line basics are:
- Dresses can be any size, but must be in good shape and only “gently worn”
- Remember that these dresses are for high-school teens. Dresses should be no more than three or four years old, so that they are still trendy and in style
- Dresses with broken zippers, rips, holes, tears or permanent stains will not be accepted
This is a wonderful way to give yourself room for current clothing and make high-school juniors and seniors happy to have a dress for prom.
