Shoes Shoes Shoes

Honestly, I am not a fan of shopping for myself but when it comes to window shopping, shoes always capture my interest whether I buy them or not. Since I have a small bedroom that limits what I have room to keep, I have adopted a policy for any new shoes I bring in, a pair has to go out. Suzy* and her husband had a substantial collection of shoes overflowing a long shoe rack. Obviously they had more pairs of shoes than the rack had space for. Suzy and I went through every pair to check what she still wore, no longer needed, or needed to replace (for example, a holey old pair of winter boots). We found a place for her to store her shoes in her closet, so she could see them laid out, instead of having to search through the pile as she did before. We also found a different closet to store her husband’s shoes so they would be easier for him access to as well. Suzy had three pairs of summery dress shoes that looked almost worn through. She turned to me and said, “I want to keep wearing them until it’s no longer warm outside, but they will be gone before the snow sets in.” You bet I will be emailing her once the snow falls to remind her of her promise.

What did you promise you would to get rid of before the next change of season?
